Ilana Bern is a fine artist working in the interior design market. Her love of art has been a lifelong passion. It began during her high school years where she developed her strong interest in art and later she applied her skills in painting floral themes and landscapes. She began her artistic career as a painter and was later drawn towards digital painting as a special way of applying paint and creating images. She paints fine art, fantasy, children’s illustrations, floral and contemporary landscapes. In her work she explores colors and textures along with rendering realistic details such as expression, distance, depth, shadows and scales while transforming concepts into fantasy worlds. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s Degree in education. She also studied in California with realistic sculptors and attended painting workshops from various artists studying styles and techniques of the Old Masters. She offers life-drawing and painting classes to help students build Art and Design portfolios for universities and colleges and to inspire their imagination. Her areas of research are ancient and modern architecture, ethnography, anthropology, costumes and people of the world, history, science and astronomy and myths and legends. Ilana is an Ontario certified Visual Arts and Media Design teacher. She is currently running her Art studio and teaching Visual and Media Arts to high school students with York Region District School Board. Her philosophy of art education is to let children express themselves through the Arts and enjoy the freedom to explore impressions by blending observed reality with color, texture, patterns and light. She has done professional works for Interior Decor Design company. Her richly colored murals, wall paintings and mixed media collages of allegorical subjects bring happiness and joy to children’s rooms. Ilana loves traveling to new places where she discovers true inspiration. By working in a variety of media, including oils, acrylic, oil pastels and mixed media, she enjoys painting objects with both traditional and digital media. Ilana experiments with graphics and mixed media to create all types of fantasy imagery.
